The Choir Boy Outing

On Sunday, June 25th, we kicked off our spiritual wellness programming with a group outing to see a phenomenal production of the play Choir Boy at the Steppenwolf Theater. As a bonus, our group was treated to a post-show panel discussion with the playwright, Tarell Alvin McCraney (also co-writing of the Oscar winning film Moonlight), facilitated by our own Dr. Keith R. Green. Our spiritual wellness partners Pastor Charles Straight, Rev. Don Abram and Dr. Ulysses Burley engaged in a thought-provoking discussion with Tarell about the inspiration for the play and various themes within it including discrimination/marginalization of Black gay/bisexual/SGL men, hetero allyship, and the value of spirituality in our lives.
